Publication Ethics

The Proceeding of Bengkulu International Conference on Health (B-ICON) upholds high ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We are committed to ensuring that publication practices are based on scientific rigor, transparency, and accountability. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to adhere to the following guidelines to promote integrity in the research and publication process.

1. Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment and citation must be given when referencing others' work.
  • Data Integrity: Authors are required to present accurate data and findings. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is prohibited.
  • Authorship: Only individuals who have significantly contributed to the study should be listed as authors. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged accordingly.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research findings or interpretation.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors should give appropriate acknowledgment to sources that have been influential in shaping the content of their work.

2. Duties of Editors

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased publication decisions based on the content's academic merit, clarity, and relevance to the scope of B-ICON.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must keep all submitted manuscripts confidential and not disclose information to anyone other than those directly involved in the publication process.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors should recuse themselves from processing manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists, whether personal, academic, or financial.
  • Fair Review Process: Editors must ensure that manuscripts are reviewed fairly and impartially, using qualified experts in the field.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and may also assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts received as confidential documents and refrain from sharing information outside the review process.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be supported with clear arguments to assist authors in improving their work.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should disclose any conflicts of interest and, where necessary, decline to review a manuscript if a potential bias exists.

4. Ethical Guidelines on Research Involving Human and Animal Subjects

  • Human Subjects: Authors must ensure that all research involving human subjects complies with ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and ensuring confidentiality.
  • Animal Subjects: Research involving animal subjects should follow standard ethical guidelines for humane treatment and care.

5. Ethical Violations and Misconduct

B-ICON takes all forms of ethical violations seriously. Allegations of misconduct, such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or falsification, will be investigated thoroughly. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken, including retraction or correction of published articles, notifying affected parties, and, if necessary, banning authors from future submissions.
